Pot Luck of the Irish: A foodie’s guide to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

We are gearing up for a fun St. Patrick’s weekend at Fat Pants Brewing Co. this year! Our staff wanted to share their favorite foods and drinks to celebrate the holiday at Fat Pants.

Every year I like to buy a freshly baked loaf of soda bread at the grocery store, slather it with butter, and pair it with a beer. This year I plan to bring home a growler of Fat Pants’ Red Irish Ale (Red Eye 'Rish; Malty, low bitterness; touch of roast; 6.0% ABV) or a Honey Brown Ale (Hunnay Bear; 6.5% ABV; caramel notes layered on a darker roast malt, but with a nice refreshing crispness on the finish) to pair it with.

Bangers & Mash with a Hunnay Bear Brown; the umami heavy garlic mashed potatoes and the bangers really need a strong but refreshing pairing, so I like the medley of notes in the brown ale to help out with that. Otherwise I'm a big fan of Green Beer (which will probably be our House Lager this year).

Corned Beef & Cabbage with. Red Eye ‘Rish. A hearty seasonal meal that is perfect for the March weather, pairs nicely with a full bodied beer
