Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day At Fat Pants Brewing

This year we are excited to be serving up some delicious Irish and St. Patrick’s Day themed drinks.

Green Beer - In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day we have made our House Beer (lager) Irish Green! Most sources credit Dr. Thomas Curtin, a coroner's physician and eye surgeon, for creating the first green beer in 1914 in a New York pub. This drink likely took inspiration from the Irish tradition of ‘drowning the shamrock’ in which literal shamrocks were thrown into beverages on St. Patricks Day.

Irish Coffee - Whiskey. Coffee. Sugar. Cream. Irish coffee is a delight to whiskey drinkers and coffee aficionados alike. Irish coffee was invented in an Irish airport bar in 1942 and served up to stranded passengers to warm them up while they waited for their flights to depart. It’s a great drink for St. Patrick’s Day here in Minnesota as hot beverage is warm and comforting during our chilly March days.

Red Eye ‘Rish Ale - Malty with low bitterness and a touch of roast (6.0% ABV). This Irish beer is a favorite among Fat Pants staff and pairs nicely with our corned beef and cabbage.

Bog Jumper Slushie  - Designed to look like the irish flag, our bog jumper slushie can be served with or without alcohol. The first Irish flag with the modern design was flown in 1848 and is a symbol for Irish nationalism and peace (white) between Roman Catholics (green) and Protestants (orange).
