When it rains, we pour

When it rains, we pour. From our warm and rich stouts to our hoppy and crisp IPAs, everybody has a favorite Fat Pants brews. That’s why this April, we asked our brew team for their favorite beers.

From Rick, Brewer: My favorite beer is Monkey Grinder, because I am the monkey grinder. This mosaic IPA was first crafted in Don’s family’s garage, on the day that our hop grinder broke down from technical failure. In our quest to brew the perfect Mosaic IPA--well before we would eventually open in 2019, as this was July of 2017 at the time--the brewers, Don and I, couldn't stop laughing about how I looked like a Monkey as I sat there and cranked the manual grinder for hours on end to provide enough hops for the homebrew. This delicious beer would go on to be a staple of ours, aptly named Monkey Grinder after the unfortunate situation I found himself in that afternoon

From Don, Brewer, Owner: My favorite beer is our Devotion, Centennial IPA. When creating the brewery, and even well before the name was developed, I knew that I wanted to nail a Midwest IPA. When I finally cracked the recipe that would become our Fan-favorite for IPA lovers and hopheads, I named it Devotion, in honor of my late mother who didn’t have the chance to see the brewery open, as she had passed away in early 2019. The iconic Devotion label is a picture of a Shetland Sheepdog, a  breed of dog that my mother, Mary Ellen, was positively obsessed with throughout her life. It was impossible not to see a Shelty, as she called them, whenever you would go visit her, whether it was a living, breathing dog of the breed, or one of hundreds of stuffed animals. As the brewery opened in late 2019, I did my best to honor my late mother by naming my favorite beer in service of my favorite person.

From Michael, Marketing: I would say the Red Eye Rish is my favorite beer, whose delicious, malty body is always a pleasantly refreshing flavor in the spring season. As an exceptionally drinkable Ale, this delicious beer has long been a favorite of mine because it reminds me of the transition from winter to spring, and looks like the perfect color brew (amber, rich and almost dark amber) you want in your hand on the first sunny afternoon/evening on the patio.
